Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, also known as Hobbs & Shaw, is a 2019 American buddy action comedy film directed by David Leitch. The screenplay was written by Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce. This spin-off movie serves as the ninth entry in the Fast & Furious series and occurs after the events of The Fate of the Furious released in 2017. The main actors include Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, joined by Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Eiza González, Cliff Curtis, and Helen Mirren. In the story, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw team up with Hattie Shaw, Deckard’s younger sister, to confront Brixton Lore (played by Elba), a cybernetically enhanced terrorist aiming to spread a deadly virus globally.

Vin Diesel, who is part of the franchise and also a producer, mentioned in 2015 that spin-offs were being considered. The official announcement for Hobbs & Shaw came in October 2017. Leitch agreed to direct the film in April 2018, while Kirby and Elba joined the cast three months later. Principal filming took place from September 2018 to January 2019 across locations such as London, Glasgow, and Kauai. The production faced controversy when longtime Fast & Furious producer Neal H. Moritz sued Universal Pictures over alleged breach of an oral agreement and promissory fraud concerning his involvement in Hobbs & Shaw. This legal matter concluded in September 2020, resulting in Moritz receiving a producer credit on F9 released in 2021.

Hobbs & Shaw had its premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on July 13, 2019 before opening in U.S. theaters on August 2, 2019. Critics gave it mixed feedback, praising its action scenes and the dynamic between Johnson and Statham but finding it less impressive than previous Fast & Furious movies. Despite this, the film performed well financially, earning $760 million globally against a production budget of $200 million.
