A 2019 American horror film, Child's Play is the eighth entry in the franchise and a remake of the 1988 original, directed by Lars Klevberg and written by Tyler Burton Smith. The movie features Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, and Mark Hamill providing the voice for Chucky. It tells the story of a family being terrorized by a malfunctioning high-tech doll that turns hostile and murderous.

Development of this version started in early 2010s, with original Chucky voice actor Brad Dourif initially attached to return. That plan fell through, leading to delays and the project entering development hell. By 2018, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer confirmed a new remake with a fresh creative team. Director Klevberg took the helm after working on a script by Burton Smith, who mentioned drawing inspiration from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in an interview. Principal photography commenced in September 2018 and concluded in November in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The film had its premiere in Paris on June 18, 2019, followed by a theatrical release in the United States and Canada three days later through Orion Pictures, under United Artists Releasing and Elevation Pictures respectively. Worldwide box office earnings reached $44.9 million, despite a $10 million budget, and it garnered mixed reviews from critics.
