Bombshell 2019
A 2019 biographical drama film, Bombshell was directed by Jay Roach and written by Charles Randolph. Starring Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie, the movie depicts events based on real accounts from women at Fox News who sought to expose CEO Roger Ailes for sexual harassment. Supporting cast includes John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton, Malcolm McDowell, and Allison Janney.
Released by Lionsgate on December 13, 2019, Bombshell earned $61.4 million worldwide despite a $32 million production budget. Critics responded with mostly positive reviews, especially praising the performances and makeup design that later won an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Some reviewers noted issues with the screenplay and questioned the accuracy of plot elements and character representations.
