A 2019 American slasher film, Black Christmas is the second remake of the 1974 original, following the 2006 version. It is part of the Black Christmas series and was directed by Sophia Takal, with screenplay written by Takal and April Wolfe. The story centers on a group of sorority sisters at Hawthorne College who become targets of an unidentified stalker. Starring Imogen Poots, Aleyse Shannon, Lily Donoghue, Brittany O'Grady, Caleb Eberhardt, and Cary Elwes, the film was developed beginning in June 2019 when Jason Blum announced his intention to produce it through his studio Blumhouse Productions. Sophia Takal took on the role of director and co-writer, with principal photography starting shortly after, lasting 27 days in Otago.

The film premiered in the United States on December 13, 2019 via Universal Pictures, aligning with Friday the 13th. Critics gave it mixed-to-negative reviews, pointing out its departure from the source material, its explicit political themes, and its PG-13 rating. Nevertheless, Poots' performance received praise, and many considered this version an improvement over the 2006 film. Worldwide earnings reached $18 million, despite a $5 million budget.
