Moana 2 is a 2024 American animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is the second animated film in the Moana franchise, following the 2016 release. The sequel was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, with writing credits shared between Miller and Jared Bush. Most of the main cast reprises their roles, including Dwayne Johnson, Auliʻi Cravalho, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, and Alan Tudyk. Set three years after the original, the story sees Moana reuniting with the demigod Maui to form a wayfinding crew. Their mission is to locate the lost island of Motufetu, break its curse, and restore connection among oceanic peoples.

Originally conceived as a miniseries for Disney+, the project was transformed into a theatrical sequel by February 2024. Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foaʻi, who composed music and wrote songs for the first film, returned to handle the score and co-write new tracks, while Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear took on the role of primary songwriters.

Moana 2 had its premiere at the Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute in Kapolei, Hawaii, on November 21, 2024. It was then released in the United States by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on November 27. Critics offered mixed responses to the film, which earned $1.059 billion globally. This performance surpassed that of its predecessor and made it the third highest-grossing film of 2024. The movie received a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. A sequel is currently in development, and a live-action remake of the first Moana film was released in 2026.
