Arthur the King 2024
A 2024 American adventure film, Arthur the King stars Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, and Juliet Rylance and was directed by Simon Cellan Jones with a screenplay by Michael Brandt. Based on the 2016 memoir Arthur - The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home by Mikael Lindnord, it recounts events from an actual adventure race in Ecuador where the captain of a team befriends a wounded stray dog named Arthur. The dog joins the group during a challenging 435-mile (700-km) endurance competition, though the movie relocates the setting to the Dominican Republic.
Paramount Players initially announced the project in 2019, but it later shifted to Lionsgate in June 2020. Principal photography commenced in the Dominican Republic during January 2021, and the film opened in theaters on March 15, 2024. Critics responded with mixed-to-positive reviews, and the movie earned $40 million globally.
