IndependentScience fiction thriller

A 2019 American science fiction mystery film, The Vast of Night is set in 1950s New Mexico and draws inspiration from the Kecksburg UFO incident and Foss Lake disappearances. Directed by Andrew Patterson, the film was co-written and co-produced by Patterson (using the name James Montague) and Craig W. Sanger. It features Fay Crocker (Sierra McCormick), a young switchboard operator, and Everett Sloan (Jake Horowitz), a radio disc jockey, who uncover an unusual audio frequency. The movie had its debut at the Slamdance Film Festival in January 2019. Amazon Studios secured distribution rights and released it in May 29, 2020 in drive-in theaters across the United States, with availability on Amazon Prime Video through video-on-demand. Critics highlighted the direction, cinematography, historical accuracy, and the acting by McCormick and Horowitz. At the 1st Critics' Choice Super Awards in 2021, it earned three nominations along with additional honors.
