Ready or Not is a 2019 American comedy horror film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. It stars Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O'Brien, Elyse Levesque, Nicky Guadagni, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell. The story centers on a young bride who becomes the target of her new husband's affluent family during their wedding night.
Work began in November 2017 when Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, part of the filmmaking group Radio Silence, were brought on as directors, with Busick and Murphy assigned to write the script. An initial release date was set, followed by casting from August through October 2018. Principal photography commenced that same month and wrapped up in November, filmed in Toronto, Canada, and nearby Ontario locations. Brian Tyler composed and conducted the soundtrack, his first time working with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett.
The film debuted at the Fantasia International Film Festival on July 27, 2019, then opened in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2019 through Fox Searchlight Pictures. Critics responded favorably, and it made $57.6 million worldwide, surpassing its $6 million budget. It was recognized with a Best Horror Film nomination at the 46th Saturn Awards. A follow-up, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, appeared in 2026.
