Animated

A 2019 American stop-motion animated adventure comedy film, Missing Link stars Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldaña, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, David Walliams, Timothy Olyphant, Matt Lucas, Amrita Acharia, and Zach Galifianakis in voice roles. The story centers on Mr. Link, an orangutan-like Sasquatch, who journeys to the Himalayas with British explorers Sir Lionel Frost and Adelina Fortnight to find his Yeti relatives. Chris Butler wrote and directed the film.

Work on a new animated Laika project started in April 2018, with Butler set to direct and write the movie. The voice cast was revealed in May 2018, along with the title. Additional voices were announced in June 2018, while Laika confirmed a release date in April 2019. By May 2018, production had begun, with Laika's team building more than 110 sets and 65 distinct locations for the movie. Carter Burwell created the soundtrack. The film cost $100 million, making it the most expensive stop-motion animated movie ever made.

Theatrically released in the U.S. on April 12, 2019 by United Artists Releasing, Missing Link failed at the box office, earning $26.6 million against a $100 million budget and causing the studio to lose $101 million. Critics responded positively, appreciating its animation and lighter tone when compared to other Laika films. The movie won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, becoming the first non-CGI animated film to win that award. It also received a nomination at the 92nd Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature.

This marked the first animated release from United Artists in thirty years, since 1989's All Dogs Go to Heaven.
