Lady and the Tramp 2019
MusicalMusical comedy-dramaRomantic musical
A 2019 American musical romance film, Lady and the Tramp represents a live-action/animated remake of Walt Disney's 1955 animated version, which originated from Ward Greene's 1945 short story "Happy Dan, the Cynical Dog" published in Cosmopolitan. The production was handled by Walt Disney Pictures, with direction by Charlie Bean and screenplay written by Andrew Bujalski and Kari Granlund. Voice cast includes Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux, Janelle Monáe, and Sam Elliott, while Thomas Mann, Kiersey Clemons, Yvette Nicole Brown, F. Murray Abraham, Adrian Martinez, and Ken Jeong appear in live-action roles. The project pays tribute to storyboard artist Chris Reccardi, who passed away on May 2, 2019. Released on November 12, 2019 exclusively on Disney+, this marked the first Disney remake to bypass theatrical release. Critics offered mixed responses to the film.
