Just Mercy is a 2019 American biographical legal drama film co-written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan as Bryan Stevenson and Jamie Foxx as Walter McMillian, alongside Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, and Brie Larson. It depicts the efforts of Stevenson, a young defense lawyer, who defends poor black inmates on death row in the Southern U.S. The story centers on his work with McMillian, who was wrongly convicted of murdering a young woman. Based on Stevenson's 2014 memoir of the same name, the film recounts his path toward dedicating his career to defending African American prisoners.

The film premiered worldwide at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2019 and was released in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures on December 25, 2019. Critics responded positively, and the movie earned $50 million at the box office. Foxx received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role at the 26th ceremony. Both he and Michael B. Jordan were awarded NAACP Image Awards for their performances.
