A 2019 American adventure comedy film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold marks the first feature entry in the franchise based on the animated Dora the Explorer series. Directed by James Bobin and written by Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson, it features Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, and Eva Longoria, with Danny Trejo providing the voice for Boots. The film's "Lost City of Gold" is inspired by the mythical Inca city, Paititi.
In 2017, a live-action version was announced, with Moner cast as the lead in May 2018. Principal photography occurred between August and December 2018 across Australia and Peru. The musical score was created by John Debney and Germaine Franco.
The film premiered in the United States on August 9, 2019 through Paramount Pictures. Critics responded positively, and it achieved modest commercial success, earning $121 million compared to its $49 million budget. A sequel titled Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado appeared in 2025.
