A 2019 comedy-drama film, Blinded by the Light, also titled Music of My Life, was directed by Gurinder Chadha. The movie draws from the life of journalist Sarfraz Manzoor, who had a deep connection to Bruce Springsteen's music. Manzoor collaborated on the screenplay with Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges, adapting his 2007 book Greetings from Bury Park: Race, Religion, and Rock n' Roll. The story unfolds in Luton, Britain, during 1987, focusing on Javed, a British-Pakistani Muslim teen whose life transforms through discovering Springsteen's songs. Viveik Kalra plays the main character, joined by Hayley Atwell, Rob Brydon, Kulvinder Ghir, and Nell Williams in supporting parts.

The film debuted at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. It was distributed by Entertainment One in the UK on 9 August 2019, and released in the US and other territories on 16 August 2019 through Warner Bros. Pictures, with a release date of New Line Cinema. Critics responded favorably to Blinded by the Light. The film earned nominations at the 2019 SIFF Awards, including Best Film and Best Actor (Kalra).
