A 2019 American musical fantasy film, Aladdin represents a live-action version of Disney’s 1992 animated movie, which was inspired by Middle-Eastern folklore. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie and written by Ritchie along with John August. Its cast includes Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, and Billy Magnussen. The plot centers on an Arabian street orphan named Aladdin who finds a magic lamp with a genie inside. Using the genie’s powers, he pretends to be a rich prince in order to catch the attention of the Sultan’s spirited daughter, Princess Jasmine. Meanwhile, the Sultan's wicked vizier and sorcerer, Jafar, seeks to take control of the lamp for himself.

In October 2016, Disney revealed that Ritchie would helm a live-action reimagining of Aladdin. Smith became the first actor confirmed, accepting the role of Genie in July 2017. Massoud and Scott were later announced as the other main characters during the same month. Principal shooting started in September at Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, wrapping up in January 2018. Additional scenes were filmed in the Wadi Rum Desert located in Jordan. Further post-production work and supplementary filming occurred in August 2018.

The movie debuted at the Grand Rex cinema in Paris on May 8, 2019 before opening in U.S. theaters on May 24. Critics gave it a mixed reception, yet it earned over $1 billion globally. It ranked as the ninth most successful film of 2019. Among Disney's live-action remakes, Aladdin ranks as the eighth most costly production and the third top-grossing one so far.
