Action role-playing

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is an action role-playing video game released in 2025. It was developed by The Chinese Room and published by Paradox Interactive and White Wolf Publishing. This sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines from 2004 takes place within the World of Darkness universe. The story centers on the Elder vampire Phyre, who awakens in early 21st-century Seattle during a historic snowstorm. After a failed coup and renewed inquisition shake the Camarilla, Phyre becomes involved in conflicts between vampires, hunters, and the resurgent Sabbat while uncovering a mystery behind a brand that suppresses their powers.

Players control Phyre primarily from a first-person view, exploring an open-world Seattle divided into five districts. The game focuses on traversal, investigation, dialogue, and supernatural combat. Players can customize Phyre’s clan, abilities, outfits, and backstory. Blood used to power Disciplines comes from feeding on humans, while stealth, persuasion, and manipulation affect relationships with characters and factions.

Development started under Hardsuit Labs in the mid-2010s before shifting to The Chinese Room in 2021 due to delays and production issues. The team kept the Christmas-time Seattle setting and much of the original art direction but rebuilt the game using a revised RPG system and narrative, leading to further delays.

The game launched on 21 October 2025 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Critical reviews were mixed, praising its narrative but criticizing gameplay and design. Sales fell short of expectations, resulting in major financial losses for the studio. The game supports single-player mode only.
