Armageddon Time 2022
Coming-of-age dramaIndependent
A 2022 American coming-of-age drama film, Armageddon Time was written, directed, and produced by James Gray. Starring Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Banks Repeta, Jaylin Webb, and Anthony Hopkins, the movie draws from Gray's own youth, portraying a young Jewish-American boy who befriends an African-American peer. The narrative explores his internal conflict with family pressures and life during periods of racial tension and discrimination. Filming took place in New Jersey and Fresh Meadows, Queens—locations where Gray lived as a child.
The film made its debut at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2022, then opened in the United States through a limited release by Focus Features on October 28, 2022, later broadening its release to November 4. Critics responded favorably, though the movie underperformed financially, earning $6.6 million while costing $15 million to produce.
