AnimatedAnimated actionScience fiction action

A 2024 American animated science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line is titled Transformers One. The movie was directed by Josh Cooley and written by Eric Pearson, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari. Its voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. It tells the story of how Optimus Prime and Megatron came to be.

In March 2015, after the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014, Paramount Pictures assigned Akiva Goldsman to form a writers' room for future Transformers films. By May 2015, Barrer and Ferrari joined as writers and developed the concept of an animated prequel taking place on Cybertron. The project was announced in August 2017, and by April 2020, Cooley was brought on as director. Industrial Light & Magic handled animation, with the visual design inspired mainly by the Generation 1 era and Art Deco styles. The soundtrack was composed by Brian Tyler.

Transformers One made its debut in Sydney, Australia, on September 11, 2024, before being distributed in the United States by Paramount Pictures on September 20. Critics responded favorably to the film, though it did not perform well financially, earning $129 million worldwide against a production budget of $75–147 million.
