The Last Showgirl 2024
A 2024 American drama film, The Last Showgirl was directed by Gia Coppola and written by Kate Gersten. Starring Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, and Kiernan Shipka, the story follows a Las Vegas performer in her middle years who confronts an unclear tomorrow upon learning that the revue she has performed in for thirty years will shut down. The screenplay originated from Gersten’s own play, Body of Work, inspired by her visits to the Jubilee! show just prior to its 2016 closing.
The film made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, followed by a limited release in the United States beginning December 13 and later expanding January 10, 2025. Critics responded favorably, especially praising Anderson’s performance. She earned nominations for Best Actress at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards and the 31st SAG Awards, while Curtis was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the SAG Awards and the 78th BAFTA Awards.
