In a Violent Nature 2024
IndependentSlasherSupernatural horror
A 2024 Canadian slasher film, In a Violent Nature, was written and directed by Chris Nash and produced by Zygote Pictures, Shudder, and Low Sky Productions. The movie, labeled as an "ambient slasher," portrays a mute killer who is unintentionally brought back to life from his grave in the Ontario wilderness by a gang of teenagers. This group becomes the target of the killer's stalking and murders, with most events shown through the killer’s point of view.
The film debuted at the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2024. It opened theatrically in the United States and Canada through IFC Films on May 31, followed by a streaming release on Shudder later that year. The premiere took place on 1,426 screens, marking IFC Films's largest theatrical rollout up to this point, earning $3 million during its opening week. Critics responded favorably to the film. A follow-up, In a Violent Nature: Part 2, is currently in development.
