A 2020 American jukebox musical romantic comedy film, Valley Girl represents a remake of the 1983 original. This film was directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, written by Amy Talkington based on a story by Wayne Crawford and Andrew Lane, and produced by Matt Smith and Steven J. Wolfe. Starring Jessica Rothe, Josh Whitehouse, Logan Paul, and Judy Greer, the movie follows Julie Richman, a Valley girl, as she falls for Randy, a rebellious punk, in the early 1980s.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer initially announced the musical remake in February 2012, but the project was paused until November 2016 when Goldenberg became director and Rothe was cast as the lead. Additional casting announcements occurred through May 2017, followed by principal photography beginning in the same month, filmed in Los Angeles. After filming wrapped, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer planned to release the film on June 29, 2018. However, a delay happened due to controversies involving Logan Paul, who played Mickey.

The film premiered simultaneously via video on demand and select drive-in theaters on May 8, 2020 through United Artists Releasing. Originally scheduled for a wide theatrical release on that same date, such plans were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, appreciating its soundtrack, acting, and tone, but many considered it a weaker version of the original.
