The Way Back 2020
A 2020 American sports drama film, The Way Back (known as Finding the Way Back in the United Kingdom and Ireland), was directed by Gavin O'Connor and written by Brad Ingelsby. The movie features Ben Affleck in the lead role alongside Al Madrigal, Michaela Watkins, and Janina Gavankar. It tells the story of an alcoholic construction worker who becomes head coach of a high school basketball team where he once excelled as a star player.
Released in the United States on March 6, 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film had a short theatrical run. Due to the global closure of cinemas caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. allowed viewers to purchase the movie digitally on March 24, 2020. Critics responded positively overall, especially praising Affleck's performance. Nonetheless, poor box office results occurred because the film was only shown in theaters for two weeks, a consequence of the 19 outbreak.
