A 2020 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics group known as the New Mutants, The New Mutants serves as a spin-off entry in the X-Men cinematic universe and marks the thirteenth and final film in the franchise. Directed by Josh Boone, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Knate Lee, the movie features Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, and Alice Braga in leading roles. The story follows a group of young mutants imprisoned in a hidden facility who must fight for their survival.

Boone and Lee started developing the project after Boone finished directing The Fault in Our Stars in 2014. They pitched a proposed trilogy to X-Men producer Simon Kinberg, and by May 2015, they had officially joined the production. Taylor-Joy and Williams were reportedly cast in March 2016 but weren't confirmed until over a year later, once the rest of the cast was finalized. Principal photography occurred in Boston, Massachusetts, between July and September 2017, mainly at Medfield State Hospital, with April 13, 2018 set as the intended release date. The film faced delays due to reshoots, which were planned while Disney moved forward with acquiring Century Fox. Once the acquisition completed, Boone resumed work on the film, finishing it without additional reshoots in March 2020.

The New Mutants premiered in U.S. theaters on August 28, 2020 through 20th Century Studios. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, and it underperformed at the box office, earning $49.2 million globally against a production budget ranging from $67 to 80 million, making it the lowest-grossing X-Men film in the series.
