Dolittle is a 2020 fantasy adventure film produced by Stephen Gaghan and written by Gaghan, Dan Gregor, and Doug Mand, adapting a story by Thomas Shepherd. The movie is based on the character created by Hugh Lofting, drawing most heavily from the second book in the series, The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle (1922). Robert Downey Jr. plays the title role, supported by Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, and Harry Collett in live-action roles. Additional voice work is provided by Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, Tom Holland, Craig Robinson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, and Marion Cotillard, portraying various animal characters.

This film marks the third adaptation of the character following the 1967 musical Doctor Dolittle with Rex Harrison and the 1998–2009 Dr. Dolittle series starring Eddie Murphy as the main character, later featuring Kyla Pratt as his daughter Maya. Unlike previous versions, this one was not distributed by 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios).

The film’s development began under the title The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle in March 2017, with Downey attached to star. Additional casting took place during the following year. Principal photography started in March 2018 and continued through June, filming primarily in the United Kingdom. A three-week reshoot session occurred in spring 2019 under Jonathan Liebesman's direction, with Chris McKay contributing to the script, after early screenings showed disappointing results.

Universal Pictures released Dolittle in the United States on January 17, 2020. Critics gave the film poor reviews and it earned $251 million worldwide. It was considered a box-office failure, reportedly losing between $50 and 100 million. Nonetheless, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it ranked as the seventh highest-grossing movie of 2020. The film received six nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, and won the award for Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel.
