Bill & Ted Face the Music 2020
Science fantasyScience fiction comedy
A 2020 American science fiction comedy film, Bill & Ted Face the Music is the third entry in the Bill & Ted series and follows Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey from 1991. Directed by Dean Parisot and written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, it continues the adventures of Bill, Ted, and the Grim Reaper, with Alex Winter, Keanu Reeves, and William Sadler reprising their roles. New cast members include Kristen Schaal, Samara Weaving, Jack Haven, Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, Jillian Bell, and Beck Bennett. The plot centers on Bill and Ted needing to compose a song that will unite humanity before space-time collapses. Development began as early as 2010, but filming did not start until 2018, with production commencing on July 1, 2019.
The film premiered in the United States on August 28, 2020 through both theatrical release and premium VOD via Orion Pictures (through United Artists Releasing). Critics responded positively, praising the story and acting, noting it as a successful return to form for the franchise. However, despite the favorable reception, the movie underperformed at the box office, earning only $6.3 million worldwide. The film’s budget was $25 million, with much of its poor performance linked to theater closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
