Battlefield 6 2025
Battlefield 6 is a 2025 online-only first-person shooter video game developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It marks the eighteenth entry in the Battlefield series and was launched for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10, 2025. A free-to-play battle royale mode called RedSec became available on October 28, 2025.
The narrative unfolds between 2027 and 2028, focusing on a confrontation between a divided NATO and Pax Armata, a private military corporation. Drawing influence from Battlefield 3 (2011) and Battlefield 4 (2013), the game adopts a more serious tone. The multiplayer component includes four character classes: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, each with unique weapons and tactics. Several familiar game modes return, including the addition of a new Escalation mode.
Following the negative reception of Battlefield 2042 (2021), development began under Vince Zampella's leadership. The project had an estimated budget surpassing $400 million, making Battlefield 6 among the priciest video games ever made. Initial details emerged from March 2025 through July, with the game officially unveiled later that month. Two open betas occurred in August; the first attracted over 500,000 players on Steam. Upon release, Battlefield 6 achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, selling more than 7 million copies within three days and setting a new record for series launches. The game earned recognition at the Game Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and the Ultra Game Awards.
