Action role-playing

Assassin's Creed Shadows is a 2025 action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It marks the fourteenth primary entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise and follows Assassin's Creed Mirage (2023). The game takes place in 16th-century Japan during the final phase of the Sengoku period. It centers on the long-standing conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood, advocating for peace and freedom, and the Templar Order, seeking order through dominance. The story is told through two main characters: Fujibayashi Naoe, a kunoichi, and Yasuke, an African samurai based on a real historical person. These protagonists offer distinct gameplay approaches, enabling varied methods to complete missions.

The game launched on March 20, 2025 for macOS, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch version released on 2 and an iPadOS edition scheduled for later release on December 2, 2025. Reviews from critics upon launch were largely favorable.
