Castlevania: Belmont's Curse 2026
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is an action role-playing video game with Metroidvania elements, released in 2026. It was developed by Evil Empire, with assistance from Motion Twin, and published by Konami. The title marks the 26th primary installment in the Castlevania series, honoring its 40th anniversary. Set in 1499, more than two decades after events in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (1989) and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (2005), the narrative centers on Rose Belmont, daughter of vampire hunter Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. She journeys into Dracula’s castle, which appears directly within Paris.
The game reverts to exploration-driven mechanics seen in prior titles like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997). Players navigate a non-linear environment including both the castle and the city of Paris. Gameplay includes battling enemies and bosses, gaining experience, and unlocking new abilities, while collecting upgrades and items to access further regions. The main character wields various weapons and powers, notably the Belmont family whip known as "Vampire Killer".
In 2021, Konami announced plans to return to console and PC game development, including this title. Production began in 2022 and the game was revealed in February 2026. Alongside Haunted Castle Revisited (2024), it stands as one of the first standalone entries since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (2014). Motion Twin supported the project in an advisory capacity, following their collaboration on the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania (2023) expansion. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse launched on 15 October 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, receiving favorable reviews.
