Echoes of Mana 2022
Echoes of Mana is a 2022 action role-playing video game that was developed by Wright Flyer Studios and published by Square Enix for Android and iOS devices. It served as a spin-off within the Mana series, featuring a warrior selected by the Mana Tree to journey across multiple worlds in search of an ominous force. Players explored environments inspired by previous entries in the franchise. The game operated under a free-to-play model, integrating a gacha system for acquiring characters and enhancements.
Work on the title spanned three years, with the developers aiming to balance combat difficulty and accessibility. Character designs were handled by Haccan, while the soundtrack was co-composed by Tsuyoshi Sekito and Ryo Yamazaki. The game's launch was announced in 2021 during the Mana series’ 30th Anniversary festivities. It released globally on April 27, 2022 and remained available until May 15, 2023. By the end of 2022, it had reached four million downloads worldwide.
Journalists gave the title a mixed review, praising its visual design and musical elements but criticizing both the storyline and gacha mechanics. The game was ultimately regarded as a commercial failure.
