The Traitors 2023
The Traitors is an American reality competition series adapted from the Dutch format De Verraders. The program takes place at Ardross Castle in Scotland and involves a group of participants playing a social deduction game akin to Mafia or Werewolf. In this setup, a small number of contestants are designated as "Traitors" and collaborate to eliminate others in order to claim a large prize. The rest of the players are labeled "Faithful" and must identify and vote out the Traitors to win.
The show is hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming. Its first season launched on Peacock on January 12, 2023. A second season followed in February 2023, with its initial three episodes debuting on January 12, 2024. The series was renewed for a third season in February 2024. By August 2024, the show had been extended through season 5. Season five, titled New Blood, introduced the first all-civilian cast and aired on NBC starting September 17, 2026. The sixth season is scheduled to begin in January 2027 with a new celebrity lineup. Just one day before the season 5 premiere, the show was renewed again for three more seasons, extending its run through season 9.
The American version of The Traitors operates as a companion series to the British original, both produced by Studio Lambert for BBC and Peacock. Both versions use identical settings, props, and missions, with only the hosting differing between them. The first season included both civilians and reality TV personalities, while later seasons have featured exclusively celebrities. The show has 5 episodes in total and is broadcast in English. It remains currently airing.
