The Penguin is an American crime drama television miniseries created by Lauren LeFranc for HBO. It adapts the DC Comics character the Penguin and acts as a spin-off from the 2022 film The Batman. The series is produced by DC Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, and it chronicles Oz Cobb's ascent within Gotham City’s criminal world. LeFranc also functions as the showrunner.

Colin Farrell plays the main character, returning to the role from The Batman, joined by Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown, Carmen Ejogo, Michael Zegen, Berto Colón, Scott Cohen, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Theo Rossi, James Madio, Nadine Malouf, Joshua Bitton, David H. Holmes, Daniel J. Watts, Jared Abrahamson, Ben Cook, Jayme Lawson, Aleska Palladino, Craig Walker, Tess Soltau, Marié Botha, Michael Kelly, and Mark Strong.

Work on the series started by September 2021, and HBO Max greenlit it in March 2022 following the release of The Batman. Matt Reeves, the film’s director, oversaw writing and helped select the creative team. Principal photography commenced in March 2023 in New York but stopped in June due to the 2023 Hollywood labor strikes. Production restarted in late November and wrapped in February 2024. The show transitioned from HBO Max's successor Max to HBO in July 2024. Craig Zobel directed the first three episodes, Helen Shaver and Kevin Bray each directed two, and Jennifer Getzinger directed the final episode.

The Penguin aired in the United States over eight episodes from September 19 to November 10, 2024. Critics praised the series for its acting, writing, direction, atmosphere, and production quality. It earned multiple awards and was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards, along with three Golden Globe Awards, including wins for both Farrell and Milioti’s performances.
