3 Body Problem is an American science fiction television series developed by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo. It adapts the Chinese novel series Remembrance of Earth's Past, authored by former computer engineer Liu Cixin. The name derives from the first book, The Three-Body Problem, which references a physics challenge involving Newton’s laws of motion and gravitation. The initial season consists of eight episodes and premiered on Netflix in March 21, 2024.

The storyline follows a mix of characters, mostly scientists, who come into contact with an alien civilization, leading to major risks and transformations for humankind. Earlier versions of the story include an animated adaptation titled The Three-Body Problem in Minecraft (2014–2020) and a live-action film called Three-Body (2023), both originally produced in Mandarin. In contrast, 3 Body Problem uses English as its primary language, incorporating some Mandarin dialogue. The setting shifts from China to include international figures and environments, especially in the United Kingdom.

This project marks Benioff and Weiss' return to television following Game of Thrones (2011–2019). Critics responded favorably, noting strong performances, scope, and quality. The show earned six Primetime Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. In May 2024, it was ordered for a second and third season, with the second season scheduled to air in 2026.
