Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2024
A 2024 American spy anthology television series, Mr. & Mrs. Smith was created by Francesca Sloane and Donald Glover and began airing on February 2, 2024. The show draws inspiration from the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, written by Simon Kinberg, but differs in that it features two strangers, played by Glover and Maya Erskine, who are assigned as undercover spies and must pretend to be a married couple; their real names are not used, with John and Jane Smith being the aliases given to them and other operatives within the same spy organization.
Arnon Milchan, who produced the original movie, serves as an executive producer for the series along with several others including Sloane, Glover, Stephen Glover, Hiro Murai, Anthony Katagas, and Michael Schaefer. The show was ordered back for a second season, with Anna Ouyang Moench becoming the new showrunner.
Critics responded favorably to the series, especially noting the acting and the chemistry between Glover and Erskine. The first season earned 16 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Glover, Outstanding Lead Actress for Erskine, and five acting nods for guest performers.
