It serves as a spin-off of the 2021 series Hawkeye, marking the 10th television production within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), produced by Marvel Studios and maintaining continuity with its film counterparts. The story follows Maya Lopez as she returns to her hometown, confronting her past, reconnecting with her Native American heritage, and embracing her family and community. [Echo] stars Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez / Echo, alongside Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Charlie Cox, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, and Vincent D'Onofrio. Development started around March 2021, when it was confirmed that Alaqua Cox would return, with Etan and Emily Cohen attached as head writers. The project was officially announced in November 2021, revealing Dayre as head writer and Freeland as director by March 2022. Principal photography occurred from late April through late August 2022 in Georgia, including Atlanta, Peachtree City, Social Circle, and Grantville.
Marvel disclosed additional cast members in May 2022, alongside the announcement that Catriona McKenzie would also direct and Rardin’s involvement was revealed in September.
