Drama

Cruel Intentions is an American drama series developed by Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman, produced by Original Film, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon MGM Studios for Amazon Prime Video. It acts as a reboot within the franchise originating from the 1999 film directed by Roger Kumble, which itself adapted Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 novel Les Liaisons dangereuses.

Set in Washington, D.C., among wealthy college students, the show centers on two deceitful step siblings determined to preserve their social standing. The main cast includes Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, and Savannah Lee Smith.

Initial efforts toward a television version of the movie began at Fox in 1999, leading to a reworked project released as the 2000 direct-to-video prequel Cruel Intentions 2. That version was canceled due to creative issues. In 2015, NBC acquired a pilot for a continuation of the film's narrative with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning, but ultimately passed on it. Amazon initiated a fresh development in 2021 for Amazon Freevee, with Neal H. Moritz returning as executive producer. A full series order was made in April 2023, followed by a move to Prime Video several months later. Principal photography occurred in Toronto and commenced in June 2023.

The series debuted on Amazon Prime Video on November 21, 2024, receiving mostly mixed reviews. It ended in March 2025 after only one season.
