Anthracite 2024
Anthracite is a six part French television series that premiered on 10 April 2024 in Netflix. The show was developed by Fanny Robert and Maxime Berthemy, and features rapper Hatik, Noémie Schmidt, and Camille Lou among its actors. Its storyline draws loosely from the Order of the Solar Temple, a group connected to multiple mass suicides. However, the series does not directly retell the Solar Temple's history; all characters and events are fictional. Critics responded with mixed opinions, complimenting the visual beauty and mystery of the show while criticizing its narrative and plot construction. This production marked Netflix's initial venture into environmentally conscious filmmaking, incorporating an "eco-referrent" to monitor its carbon footprint. A share of the environmental cost was contributed by Netflix.
