Historical drama

The Seduction, referred to as Merteuil in France, represents a French television production directed by Jean-Baptiste Delafon, adapting Pierre Choderlos de Laclos's epistolary work Les Liaisons dangereuses. This program features Anamaria Vartolomei, Diane Kruger, Vincent Lacoste, and Lucas Bravo in its cast. The show functions as both a prequel and loose interpretation of the novel's storyline, depicting Isabelle de Merteuil (Vartolomei) seeking vengeance against Vicomte de Valmont (Lacoste) following his treachery toward her.

Production of the series was declared by HBO Max in September 2024, with Nabi Productions and Felicita Films managing the production duties. Principal photography occurred predominantly in Val-d'Oise from September through December 2024. Initially designated as a Max Original, the series was later designated as an HBO Original in October 2025.

The Seduction debuted in France and globally on 14 November 2025 via HBO Max's HBO platform. According to Metacritic's weighted scoring system, the production received 69 points out of 100 from 9 reviewers, reflecting "generally favorable" critical reception.
