The Pitt is an American medical drama series developed by R. Scott Gemmill and produced by John Wells and Noah Wyle. This marks Gemmill, Wells, and Wyle's second partnership; their prior work together included ER (1994–[PP4]). The show features Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Sepideh Moafi. Each season chronicles the experiences of emergency department personnel at a made-up Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center during one continuous 12-hour shift, while dealing with understaffing, insufficient funding, and individual challenges. Every episode unfolds in real time, representing about sixty minutes of that shift.

The Pitt debuted on Max (subsequently renamed HBO Max) on January 9, 2025. Critics have commended the series for its acting, writing, direction, structure, and authenticity. It has also been recognized by doctors and health journals for its precision in depicting healthcare environments, realistic portrayal of medical professionals, and depiction of pressures affecting staff in a post-pandemic setting. The show was ordered back for a second season in February 2025, which launched on January 8, 2026. Before the second-season debut in January 2026, the series was confirmed for a third season.

The program has garnered multiple honors, including eleven Primetime Emmy Awards such as Outstanding Drama Series (twice) and Outstanding Casting (twice), plus acting awards for Wyle (twice) and LaNasa (once). It also won Best Television Series – Drama at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. Furthermore, it was named one of the 10 best TV programs of 2025 by the American Film Institute.
