Starring Miles Heizer, Ana Ayora, Blake Burt, Cedrick Cooper, Dominic Goodman

Boots represents an American military comedy drama series developed by Andy Parker, adapted from the memoir The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White. The show centers on Miles Heizer playing Cameron Cope, a Louisiana-based closeted gay adolescent who joins the United States Marine Corps with his close companion Ray McAffey (Liam Oh). Located in 1990, during a period when the armed forces barred homosexual individuals from serving, the narrative illustrates their basic training experience led by Sergeant Sullivan (Max Parker), a drill sergeant who becomes particularly invested in Cope’s progress. Additional cast members include Ana Ayora, Blake Burt, Cedrick Cooper, Dominic Goodman, Nicholas Logan, Kieron Moore, Angus O'Brien, Rico Paris, and Vera Farmiga.

The program debuted on Netflix on October 9, 2025 and garnered favorable feedback from reviewers, although it faced criticism from conservative groups and The Pentagon during the Trump administration. Certain observers argued that its depiction of military life in the era it portrayed was overly simplified. Furthermore, contrary to the storyline, Greg Cope White was not a Louisiana resident who enlisted in 1990; instead, he was originally from Texas, and The Pink Marine is also established in 1979. The series ended after a single season on December 12, 2025.

Similar to Boots, a 1996 episode of JAG titled "Boot" also addressed possible misconduct within the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, including a scene implying breach of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" regulation when one main character was questioned about her sexual orientation while operating undercover as a trainee at Parris Island.
