Top Chef Amateurs is a 2021 American reality competition series airing on Bravo, premiering on July 1, 2021. This show serves as a spin-off of the popular Top Chef television series, but focuses on amateur home cooks rather than professional chefs. Each episode presents two amateur contestants competing against each other in challenges based on those from prior Top Chef seasons. Every amateur is partnered with a former Top Chef contestant who functions as both advisor and sous chef during competitions. Gail Simmons hosts the program and also acts as the primary judge throughout all episodes. The winner of each episode earns .
Filming for Top Chef Amateurs started in October 2020 in Portland, Oregon, after production wrapped on Top Chef: Portland. The series was shot following the same COVID-19 protocols used during earlier seasons, using the identical kitchen setup located at the Portland Expo Center. Contestants traveled from various parts of the United States to Portland, where they were required to stay in hotel rooms for multiple days and undergo repeated coronavirus testing. Like its predecessor, Amateurs includes guest judges from Top Chef history who alternate between working with contestants in the kitchen and serving as judges together with Simmons.
