Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a 2022 action-adventure comedy film based on the Sonic video game series. It serves as the second entry in the Sonic film series and was directed by Jeff Fowler, with a screenplay written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Adam Pally return to their roles, while Shemar Moore and Idris Elba join the cast. The story sees Sonic and his companion Tails (O'Shaughnessey) searching for the Master Emerald before Dr. Robotnik and his ally Knuckles the Echidna (Elba) can reach it.

After the success of Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), Paramount Pictures confirmed the sequel in May 2020, with Fowler, Casey, Miller, and the original cast returning. Principal photography occurred from March through June 2021 in Vancouver and Hawaii. The film draws inspiration from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994), and Sonic & Knuckles (1994).

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 debuted theatrically in various markets on March 30, 2022, in the United States on April 8, and in Japan on August 19. Similar to its predecessor, it broke multiple box office records for a video game movie and earned favorable reviews from critics. It made $405.4 million globally. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the TV spin-off Knuckles were released in 2024, with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 scheduled for 2027.
