Nope is a 2022 American science fiction neo-Western horror film written, directed, and produced by Jordan Peele. The movie features Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, Brandon Perea, and Keith David in leading roles. Set in Agua Dulce, California, the story follows horse-wrangling siblings Otis "OJ" Jr. (Kaluuya) and Emerald (Palmer) as they try to film evidence of an unidentified flying object.

Jordan Peele announced Nope, his third directorial effort, in November 2020. He named King Kong (1933), The Wizard of Oz (1939), Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Jurassic Park (1993), and Signs (2002) as primary influences. Palmer and Kaluuya began working on the project in February 2021. Yeun joined shortly after, and the title was revealed in July 2021. Principal photography started in June 2021 in Los Angeles County and concluded that November. The film was made under Peele’s production company Ian Cooper and Monkeypaw Productions.

The premiere took place at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on July 18, 2022, followed by a wide theatrical release in the United States on July 22, 2022 through Universal Pictures. Worldwide box office earnings reached $172 million. Critics praised its ambition, acting, cinematography, themes, visual design, soundtrack, and direction by Peele. The film was honored as one of the top ten of 2022 by the American Film Institute. Since then, Nope has appeared on lists of the finest science fiction films of the 21st century and is often cited among the greatest science fiction movies ever made.
