Riley 2023
Coming-of-age dramaDramaTeen drama
A 2023 American coming-of-age drama film, Riley is written and directed by Benjamin Howard for his first feature film. Starring Jake Holley, Colin McCalla, Riley Quinn Scott, Connor Storrie, and Rib Hillis, the story centers on a closeted high-school football player dealing with identity issues. Inspired by Howard's time as a student athlete, the film was shot in San Diego, California. It premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival and the BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival, with distribution handled by Dark Star Pictures. Critics appreciated its authentic message but felt it lacked originality. The film earned multiple awards during festival screenings.
