Wolf Man 2025
Horror thrillerSupernatural horror
Wolf Man represents a 2025 American supernatural horror motion picture, directed and co-authored by Leigh Whannell. Serving as a reboot of the Wolf Man series, this production features Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, and Sam Jaeger in leading roles. The storyline centers on a family-oriented individual attempting to shield his spouse and child from a werewolf threat, ultimately contracting the affliction and gradually transforming into the beast. Jason Blum collaborated on the project through his Blumhouse Productions production company.
The motion picture debuted in 2014 under the Dark Universe initiative, a cinematic shared universe revolving around Universal Monsters. Following the unsuccessful release of The Mummy (2017), Universal redirected its attention toward individual productions. The triumph of Whannell's The Invisible Man (2020) reignited Universal’s enthusiasm for the Monsters franchise. They approved a proposal from Ryan Gosling, who was initially scheduled to portray the lead role and was set to work with Derek Cianfrance as director. However, Cianfrance exited the project in 2023, Gosling withdrew from the part, and Whannell assumed directorial duties with an updated cast. Principal filming occurred in New Zealand during early 2024.
The film premiered in American theaters through Universal Pictures on January 17, 2025. Critics offered varied assessments of the release, and the movie earned $36.8million.
