Until Dawn 2025
Until Dawn represents a 2025 American survival horror motion picture derived from the 2015 video game created by PlayStation Studios. This production operates within the same fictional framework as preceding titles yet introduces an independent narrative that enhances the gaming universe's lore. The story unfolds between two specific video game installments: the 2015 title and Until Dawn 2 (2027). The project was helmed by David F. Sandberg and scripted by Gary Dauberman and Blair Butler. Leading roles are performed by Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A'zion, Ji-young Yoo, and Belmont Cameli, portraying a gathering of companions trapped in a remote location governed by a temporal loop. Each demise resets the evening, introducing fresh perils with every restart, while survival until dawn constitutes the sole resolution. Peter Stormare reprises his gaming persona within this cinematic version.
Sony Pictures unveiled the production in January 2024, designating Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions as producers. Casting decisions occurred during 2024, followed by principal filming from August through October 2024 in Budapest. The creative team includes recurring collaborators of Sandberg such as composer Benjamin Wallfisch, cinematographer Maxime Alexandre, and editor Michel Aller.
The film premiered in the United States under Sony Pictures Releasing on April 25, 2025. Critics offered varied assessments, and the release achieved $54 million globally.
