Screamboat 2025
Comedy horrorHorrorIndependent
Screamboat represents a 2025 horror comedy production co-created, co-executed, and helmed by Steven LaMorte. This reworking adapts Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks's 1928 animated short Steamboat Willie. The storyline centers on New Yorkers menaced by a giant mouse called Steamboat Willie. Featuring David Howard Thornton, Allison Pittel, Amy Schumacher, Jesse Posey, Kailey Hyman, Jesse Kove, and Jarlath Conroy.
While Disney maintains sole ownership of Mickey Mouse properties, the Steamboat Willie character became public domain on January 1, 2024. The following day, Screamboat was revealed.
This film debuted in cinemas across the United States and United Kingdom on April 2, 2025, later appearing on DVD, Blu-ray, and streaming platforms in the United States on May 2, 2025. Critics offered divided responses to the movie. A follow-up entitled Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead currently moves forward in production.
