Good Fortune 2025
Good Fortune is a 2025 American comedy film written and directed by Aziz Ansari in his first feature film as director. Seth Rogen, Ansari, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and Keanu Reeves appear in the movie. It is produced by Garam Films, Oh Brudder Productions, Keep Your Head, and Yang Pictures. The story centers on an angel named Gabriel (Reeves), whose unsuccessful effort to demonstrate to Arj (Ansari), a man facing difficulties, that wealth cannot resolve life's issues—by exchanging lives between him and his affluent boss Jeff (Rogen)—leads to Gabriel losing his wings, while the work he performed as an angel starts to fall apart.
Following the cancellation of his initial directorial effort Being Mortal at Searchlight Pictures in 2022, Ansari proceeded with the development of Good Fortune. He intended to produce a theatrical comedy, referencing the commercial success of Barbie (2023) as evidence that such a project could succeed. Shortly after Being Mortal was discontinued, Ansari's close friend Rogen, who influenced multiple aspects of the film, became involved.
Principal photography was scheduled to start in May 2023, but was interrupted mid-month because of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. Filming resumed in late January 2024 in Los Angeles after Palmer joined the cast. Most of the shooting concluded before April 2024, with additional scenes shot later following an injury Reeves suffered two weeks into production that required recovery time.
Good Fortune made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025, and opened in the United States on October 17, 2025 through Lionsgate. Critics responded positively to the film, and it grossed $26 million at the box office despite a budget of $30 million.
