A Minecraft Movie Squared represents an upcoming adventure comedy motion picture adapted from the 2011 gaming franchise Minecraft by Mojang Studios. This follow-up to A Minecraft Movie (2025) receives direction from Jared Hess, who collaborated on the screenplay with Chris Galletta. Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry, and Jennifer Coolidge reprise their roles from the initial production, while Kirsten Dunst becomes part of the ensemble.
Interest in a possible continuation to A Minecraft Movie emerged shortly after that production's April 2025 debut. During that October timeframe, confirmation occurred regarding the sequel featuring Hess returning as director and Galletta returning as co-screenwriter. Dunst assumed the role of Alex in March 2026. Principal photography commenced in May within New Zealand, with the title revealed during Minecraft Live on May 30, 2026.
This production is set for theatrical distribution in the United States on July 23, 2027 through Warner Bros. Pictures.
