A 2017 American biographical legal drama film, Marshall follows the early career of Thurgood Marshall, portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, who would later become the first African American Supreme Court Justice. The story centers on the State of Connecticut v. Joseph Spell case, one of Marshall's earliest significant legal battles. The film was written by Michael and Jacob Koskoff and directed by Reginald Hudlin. Supporting cast includes Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Dan Stevens, Sterling K. Brown, and James Cromwell.

Production commenced in Los Angeles during mid-December 2015 and later moved to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York. The announcement of the project occurred in December 2015, alongside Boseman's casting. It premiered at Howard University on September 20, 2017 and was distributed in the United States by Open Road Films on October 13, 2017.

Critics responded positively to Boseman’s performance, though the screenplay received criticism. The film earned $10 million domestically against a $12 million budget. At the 90th Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best Original Song for "Stand Up for Something".
