A 2017 romantic drama film, Disobedience is directed by Sebastián Lelio and written by Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, adapting the 2006 novel by Naomi Alderman. Starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams, the story unfolds in North London where a woman returns to her strict Orthodox Jewish community for her father's funeral after years in New York. She has been estranged from her father and shunned by the group due to undisclosed reasons that are revealed gradually throughout the narrative. The production was handled by Weisz, Ed Guiney, and Frida Torresblanco.

The film made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September 2017. It was shown in the United States on 27 April 2018 through Bleecker Street and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on 30 November 2018 via Curzon Artificial Eye.

Reviews were largely favorable, highlighting performances by Weisz, McAdams, and Nivola, as well as Lelio’s direction and the screenplay. The film earned nominations for the British Independent Film Awards, GLAAD Media Awards, and Dorian Awards for Best Picture.
