Horror thrillerSupernatural horrorThriller
A 2018 biographical supernatural horror film, Winchester follows the story of heiress Sarah Winchester, portrayed by Helen Mirren, who is terrorized by apparitions within her San Jose residence in 1906. The movie, also titled Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built, was created by Michael and Peter Spierig and written by the Spierigs and Tom Vaughan. It features Jason Clarke and Sarah Snook in supporting roles.
This American-Australian production debuted in the United States on February 2, 2018 and in Australia on February 22, 2018. Critics responded poorly, labeling it "dull" and "pointless." Despite this, the film earned $44 million globally, surpassing its $3.5 million budget. At the 39th Golden Raspberry Awards, it received four nominations, including Worst Picture and Worst Actress for Mirren, though it failed to win any awards.
